>> The Georgia Tech baseball team looks to rebound from a tough weekend, hosting in-state rival Mercer Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium at 6 p.m.
>> The game can be heard live on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta with Nolan Alexander, Wade Rogers and Roddy Jones on the call. Live streaming video and Gametracker coverage is available at RamblinWreck.com.
>> The Yellow Jackets send freshman righty Josh Heddinger to the mound, looking to snap a three-game slide overall, and a two-game skid in the series to Mercer. The Bears counter with lefty ace Brandon Love, who is the team’s normal Friday starter.
>> A midseason power surge from LF Brandon Thomas has the junior hitting .365 overall and at a .377 clip versus the ACC, which is second-highest in the league. Thomas is 26 for his last 61 (.426), had a game-winning RBI double in the eighth inning to beat Duke 1-0 and ripped a game-tying RBI double in the ninth to force extra innings versus No. 2 Florida State.
>> Junior Sam Dove continues to pace the offense with his .377 average (third in the ACC). Dove leads the ACC in hits (49).
>> Mercer has hit 40 homers as a team, which is two shy of the NCAA lead, and is slugging .476, which is among the nation’s top 10. Meanwhile, Tech’s homer-less drought has reached seven games and the Jackets have just one in the last 11.
