ATLANTA – Senior Sasha Goodlett led four Yellow Jackets in double figures as Georgia Tech (7-3) cruised to an 85-50 win over Georgia State (3-5) Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena.
Goodlett finished with a game-high 16 points and just needs 22 more points to become the 25th Yellow Jacket to score 1,000 points in a career. Ty Marshall, who has finished in double-figures in nine of the 10 games this season, closed out the game with 15 points, while Sydney Wallace scored 13 and Metra Walthour finished with 11.
The Yellow Jackets came out of the locker room aggressive on the defensive side of the ball, holding Georgia State scoreless for the first five and half minutes of the game. The Jackets followed the strong start with a 14-0 run between the 9:50 and 5:07 marks of the half to enter the half leading 36-19.
Tech put the game away early in the second half going on a 26-4 run to cruise to the victory. Wallace scored all 13 of her points off the bench in the second 20 minutes to help spark Tech.
The Jackets forced the Panthers in to 26 turnovers and held them to only 29.6% from the field.
The Yellow Jackets will continue their five-game road trip next week with a pair of games in Nassau, Bahamas, where they will take part in the Bahamas Sunsplash Shootout. Tech will face SIU-Edwardsville Monday at 6 p.m., in the opening game of the tournament.
