THE FLATS – Fall competition gets underway this weekend for the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team as five Yellow Jackets head to Cary, N.C., for the 2017 Duke Invitational. Action gets started on Friday at 9 a.m. with the first round of doubles play.
Representing Tech this weekend will be returners Nadia Gizdova, Kenya Jones and Nami Otsuka in addition to Tech’s two newcomers, Victoria Flores and Ida Jarlskog.
Doubles will be played as a set rotation with each pairing playing three matches. The quarterfinals of singles play will take place on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. with the semifinals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The finals will be played at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Each draw of singles will feature a consolation side of the bracket.
Earlier this week, six Jackets were featured in the ITA Preseason Rankings including No. 103 Jones and No. 111 Otsuka. The newcomer duo of Jarlskog/Flores appeared in the doubles rankings at No. 40.
