Georgia Tech makes its only true road trip during the non-conference season on Sunday, traveling to Mercer for a Sunday matinee. The Yellow Jackets are coming off marquee win on Wednesday against Mississippi State in the SEC/ACC Challenge. Tech and MSU stood tied with five minutes left to play as both teams sought their first win in the Challenge series. Kara Dunn led Tech with 23 points on the night, while freshman Dani Carnegie came up big in the fourth quarter, chipping in 10 points, including a pair of free throws in the final seconds to extend Tech’s lead to three points.
Mercer enters the contest off a tough loss to Charlotte, falling in the final minute at home to dip to 4-6 on the season. Sunday caps a two-game homestand for the Bears after playing three-straight on the road. Mercer is 3-2 when competing at home this season. Ashlee Locke leads Mercer, averaging 9.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
The two teams met in McCamish Pavilion last season with Tech taking a 73-60 win to improve its lead in the all-time series to 17-6. Tech has won the last nine-straight against Mercer. Sunday will mark Tech’s first trip to Macon since 1997 with the Jackets owning a 5-3 record when facing the Bears on the road.
