THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field send sophomores Avery Bartlett and Jeanine Williams to Eugene, Ore. to represent the Yellow Jackets at the 2017 Outdoor Track and Field NCAA Championships from June 7-10.
Bartlett returns to the NCAA Championships in the 800m after competing in the Indoor Track and Field NCAA Championships in March. He will once again race in the men’s 800m, after recording the third-best time in the quarterfinals at the East Preliminaries in Lexington, Ky. Bartlett finished sixth at the ACC Championships in the 800m to earn All-ACC second team honors.
Williams makes her NCAA Championships debut, racing in the women’s 100m hurdles. She posted the fourth-best time in the quarterfinals at the East Prelims to advance to the national meet. She registered a career-best time at the ACC Championships of 12.99, taking second for a podium finish and All-ACC first team honors. Her career-best time is the 14th-best time recorded in NCAA Division I this season.
Bartlett races first, competing in the semifinals of the men’s 800m at 6:14 p.m. PT on Wednesday, June 7. Williams takes on the women’s 100m hurdles semifinals at 5:32 p.m. PT on Thursday, June 8.
