THE FLATS – Giving fans a first look at the 2017 Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech volleyball will host its annual gold and white scrimmage on Saturday Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at O’Keefe Gymnasium.
The Yellow Jackets will play a full five sets. Admission to the event is free and parking is available free of charge in the McCamish lots.
Because it is student move in weekend, fans attending the scrimmage should expect heavier traffic and congested paths and roadways, as well as restrictions on parking in East Campus areas.
Head coach Michelle Collier enters her fourth season at the helm of the program. The Jackets have seen improvement each season under Collier. In 2016, Tech posted a 24-8 record with a 15-5 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Despite losing five seniors, the Jackets return key players in Gabriela Stavnetchei (who was named to the preseason all-ACC team), Sydney Wilson and Kodie Comby.
The Yellow Jackets open their season on Friday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. when they host Auburn at O’Keefe Gymnasium as part of the Hyatt Regency Invitational. Tech also hosts Furman and Michigan State on Saturday, Aug. 26 as part of the tournament and welcomes North Dakota on Sunday, Aug. 27.
