DURHAM, NC – In a matchup between two of the top volleyball teams in the ACC, Georgia Tech (14-4, 5-1) defeated Duke (13-5, 3-2) in three games Friday night, 15-6, 15-4, 15-7, at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Junior Kyleen Bell led Georgia Tech with 11 kills, 10 digs, five block assists, and a .556 hitting percentage. Junior Maja Pachale and Eida Mabry also recorded double-digit kills with 10, as the Yellow Jackets outhit the Blue Devils in every game of the match.
Georgia Tech set the tone for the match early, dominating Duke in the first game with a .211 hitting percentage, while the Blue Devils struggled with a .047 percentage. Georgia Tech took the first game 15-6 and continued its assault in the second game, registering an impressive .484 attack percentage and rolling to a 15-4 victory.
In the third game, the Blue Devile posted a series of two-point runs, but Georgia Tech stopped every major Duke threat, cruising to a 15-7 final set victory.
Junior Dorette Burwell led Duke with 11 kills, and junior Ashley Harris and freshman Krista Dill added eight kills apiece.
Georgia Tech returns home to O’Keefe Gymnasium to face Clemson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
