THE FLATS – Georgia Tech football achieved its highest national ranking in 11 years – and its highest in the regular-season in 16 years – on Sunday when it came in at No. 7 in the Associated Press (media) and US LMB coaches polls.
The Yellow Jackets’ No. 7 ranking is their highest since they were ranked seventh in the final coaches poll of the 2014 season, following the conclusion of an 11-3 season that was capped by a 49-34 Orange Bowl victory over Mississippi State.
The No. 7 ranking is Tech’s highest in the regular season since it was ranked seventh in both the AP and coaches polls for three weeks in 2009.
Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 ACC) moved into the top 10 after handing Duke its first Atlantic Coast Conference loss of the season with a 27-18 road win over the Blue Devils on Saturday. The Jackets are 7-0 for the first time since 1966 and 4-0 in ACC play for the first time since 1999.
The Yellow Jackets look to extend their winning streak at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field to 10-straight games on Saturday when they return home to face Syracuse. Tech’s homecoming game kicks off at noon. Tickets are still available HERE.
