Athens, Ga – Georgia Tech swim-dive performed very well in day one of the UGA Invite. Two Yellow Jackets set new school records along with multiple first place performances.
On the women’s side, McKenzie Campbell set a new Georgia Tech record in the women’s 200 IM with a time of 1:59.29. Campbell also recorded a NCAA ‘B’ cut time in this event. The women’s 400 Medley relay (Zora Ripkova ,Vivien Rothwell, Sabyne Brisson, Jillian Ferrari) set a new school record with a time of 3:36.78.
In the women’s 1M dive, Anna Bradescu finished with a score of 270.05 points which resulted in a first place finish in the consolation finals.
On the men’s side, Berke Saka finished with a first performance in the 200 IM with a time of 1:42.19, a NCAA ‘B’ cut time.
Max Fowler added to his first place campaign with a score of 390.80 points in the men’s 3M championship dive. Ruben Lechuga placed second with a score of 382.80 points.
Tech will continue competition at the UGA Invite on Friday, Nov. 17 with preliminaries starting at 9:30 a.m.
Competitive Drive Initiative Turn 2
Looking to build on the success of last year’s Competitive Drive Initiative, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation and Georgia Tech athletics are partnering once again to launch Competitive Drive Initiative Turn 2. CDI Turn 2 has a goal of raising $2.5 million in new gifts to the Alexander-Tharpe Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund by Dec. 31, and Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Foundation will match eligible gifts to accelerate the impact for Tech athletics. Like last year, not only will gifts to CDI Turn 2 be matched, but so will the contributor’s benefits in the way of A-T Fund giving levels and priority points.
