ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech baseball team will attend the funeral of late teammate Michael Hutts Tuesday morning, resulting in the first game of a midweek series at Georgia Southern to be cancelled.
The two head coaches are working to find a possible makeup date for Tuesday’s previously scheduled game, but no decision has been made at this time. The Jackets will still play the Eagles Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast on CSS.

Michael Truxden Hutts, age 21, beloved son of Mark and Vicky Hutts and brother of Matthew, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008. He was loved and will be missed and remembered by his family and many friends. Michael truly loved being with his friends and playing baseball. Many of these friendships were forged on the baseball field. His memory will live on through the lives of those he touched. Michael attended Wesleyan School where he played on the baseball and basketball teams and ran cross country. He continued his athletic career as a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team. Michael is also survived by his grandparents Wilsie and Janet Hutts and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 2443 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338 at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. The family will receive friends in the Social Hall of the church following the interment at Arlington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Michael to the Wesleyan School Scholarship Fund, 5405 Spalding Drive, Norcross, GA 30092 or to Georgia Tech Baseball c/o Alexander-Tharpe Fund, 150 Bobby Dodd Way, Atlanta, GA 30332.
