ATLANTA (Oct. 30) — Junior middle blocker Teryl Townsend put together her top performance of the season Saturday night, leading Georgia Tech over Virginia in four games (15-5, 16-14, 14-16, 16-14) at O’Keefe Gymnasium.
Townsend posted a season-high total of 25 kills, while hitting for an amazing .422 hitting percentage in the match, and .727 in the first game. Sophomore Maja Pachale added 24 kills for the Jackets, who were aided by the setting of Courtney Adler who compiled 58 assists in the match.
Tech (15-10, 5-7 ACC) exacted revenge on the Cavaliers (15-8, 8-5 ACC) who had stopped the Jackets in three games in Charlottesville just two weeks ago.
In the losing effort, senior middle hitter Jessica Parsons who tallied 20 kills, while hitting .326 for the match led Virginia, while setter Mary Frances Scott added 55 assists.
Georgia Tech returns to action on Tuesday night when they travel to 14th-ranked Clemson for a 7 p.m. contest.
