Three Jackets Featured in ITA Preseason Rankings

THE FLATS – Senior Kendal Woodard and sophomores Paige Hourigan and Johnnise Renaud are all featured in the ITA’s Preseason Rankings, which were released Tuesday.

Hourigan and Woodard have been tabbed as the number seven doubles team in the preseason rankings. The duo earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship and went 16-2 in dual matches last season. Hourigan and Woodard went 8-1 against conference opponents and won six matches against nationally ranked opponents. The tandem finished the 2015 season ranked as the #24 doubles team in the country.

Hourigan also is featured in the ITA preseason singles rankings, checking in at #35. The Turakina, New Zealand, native won a team-best 16 dual matches last season and went 25-12 in her debut season. She earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Singles Championship and was named Second Team All-ACC. Hourigan mostly played at the number two singles spot and won six matches against ranked opponents. She wrapped up 2015 ranked at #52.

Renaud is ranked the #74 singles player heading into the preseason. During her freshman campaign, Renaud tallied a 21-18 overall singles record on her way to Second Team All-ACC accolades. The North Miami, Fla., native played mostly at the number one spot and went 25-8 in doubles as a freshman. Last fall, Renaud put together a team-best 8-3 singles record and played in the Junior U.S. Open Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will participate in both the Fab Five tournament at Duke and the Miami Invitational at Miami this weekend to open up the fall season.
