June 23, 2011
TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of Georgia Tech Athletics
FROM: Dan Radakovich, Georgia Tech Director of Athletics
As promised I will wrap up the 2010-11 year in this final summer edition of The Good Word. I hope you are all enjoying this great time of year and are at least peeking ahead at the season just ahead of us this fall.
If you are not yet a football season ticket holder, I would strongly urge you to join us for what shapes up to be one of the most entertaining and exciting seasons on the Flats in recent memory. With seven great home games including Western Carolina, Kansas, North Carolina, Maryland, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Georgia, this season will be a blockbuster at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
If you are currently in our season ticket fold, you are presently in a window to purchase additional tickets to our game vs. Georgia on Nov. 26. In 2009 we instituted this policy which allows our season ticket holders first crack at all remaining tickets to that great rivalry game. Two years ago, you all responded en masse and our entire remaining allotment wound up in the hands of our season ticket group. The result was an overwhelming display of Gold and White support at that critical state rivalry game.
With the deadline just a week away to take advantage of this offer, we still have a long way to go to get all of these tickets claimed by our Georgia Tech faithful. Please take the time to purchase your additional Georgia tickets now and help us maintain that great home field advantage when we face the Dawgs.
If you are a season ticket holder and would like to purchase additional tickets to the Tech-UGA game or other single-game purchases click here. If you would like to become a season ticket holder and have this great opportunity click here.
I wanted to leave with a look at our 2010-11 financials as reported to the GTAA Board of Directors last week. Following are GTAA’s projected year-end revenues and expenses for the 2010-11 fiscal year. These projections were made at the end of May, 2011, in advance of the 4th quarter GTAA Board meeting. Because there is a significant amount of variability in the revenues remaining to be collected and expenses remaining to be incurred during the month of June, the actual year-end net income may differ from the amount projected here. Click here to view our Financial Summary for FY11.
Even though we are projecting a year-end net loss of $700,000, it will be funded by a draw from the GTAA’s fund balance account. The balance in this account at the beginning of the fiscal year was $4.876 million. Because this fund has experienced more than a 14 percent investment growth during FY 11, after this draw has been made, the overall balance in the account is projected to be $4.896 million.
