AUSTIN, Texas – Georgia Tech junior outside hitter Teegan Van Gunst was named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® second team, as announced Thursday by CoSIDA. She is only the fourth Georgia Tech volleyball player in program history to earn the honor.
“Teegan is a very rare talent,” head coach Michelle Collier. “She is the ultimate student-athlete, and to be able to put up the numbers that she puts up on and off the court is exceptional.”
A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Van Gunst maintains a 3.97 GPA in mechanical engineering, and was named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Team and was twice named to the ACC Honor Roll.
Van Gunst was named to the 2015 All-ACC first team after leading the league in kills (471) and kills per set (3.92) at the end of the regular season. She is the first Yellow Jacket to earn the honor since All-American in 2012, and her 471 kills are the most by a Yellow Jacket since Mead put down 459 in 2012.
Van Gunst started all 120 sets this season and scored 20 double-doubles. She tallied 25 matches with 10+ kills, and 23 matches with 10+ digs.
