Tech's Voeltz Named To 2004 Academic All-District III Team

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Erin Voeltz was named to the Academic All-District III University Division Softball Team, announced on Thursday afternoon. The senior pitcher earns first team honors for the second consecutive season. The honorees will be on the ballot for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced on Thursday, June 3.

The Westlake, Calif., native is 15-8 on the year and ranks 23rd in the nation with a 0.92 ERA. Voeltz reached a career-high in strikeouts (162) this season and broke the single-game school record with 16 strikeouts against Austin Peay on March 19. She is the all-time leader at Tech in career appearances (124) and ranks second in wins (57), strikeouts (478), innings pitched (654.2), games started (97), complete games (70), shutouts (17) and third in ERA (1.77). Voeltz was the recipient of Georgia Tech’s top senior Student-Athlete Award and graduated from Tech on Saturday, May 1, with high honors in management.

The 24th-ranked Yellow Jackets (41-15, 5-5 ACC) will take on NC State (32-25, 3-7 ACC) in the opening game of the ACC Tournament at 11 a.m. on Friday morning. All Tech games can be followed on www.ramblinwreck.com.
