Tech's Voeltz Named ACC Softball Player of the Week

May 3, 2004

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech senior Erin Voeltz was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Voeltz led the Yellow Jackets to a sweep over Maryland this past Sunday with her sixth complete-game shutout of the season.

The Westlake, Calif., native held Tech in the ballgame with seven shut out innings against the Terps. The Jackets tallied a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and Voeltz made it stick. The senior went the distance, scattering four hits, striking out seven and walking none.

The 23rd-ranked Yellow Jackets will travel to Starkville, Miss., for the regular season finale against the Bulldogs. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. EST.
