ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Christine Sheridan was named Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Sheridan becomes the second Yellow Jacket to earn such honors this season (Amy Hosier).
Sheridan led the 19th-ranked Yellow Jackets to a 4-1 record last week, including two wins against conference foe North Carolina in Tech’s opening ACC weekend. The junior shortstop hit .643, with two doubles, three runs batted in, three walks and one stolen base.
The Pasadena, Md., native also extended her team-leading hitting streak to 10 games against UNC this weekend. Sheridan finished 5-for-9, with three runs scored and one RBI against the Tar Heels in a three-game series.
At the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Sheridan finished 1-for-1, with two walks and two runs scored in a Tech 12-0 victory in five innings over Boston University. In game two versus Oakland University, Sheridan finished 3-for-4, with two runs batted in and two runs scored in a 7-4 win.
Tech will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Tournament this Friday-Sunday, March 18-20.
