Tech's Rhett Earns Weekly ACC Women's Track Honor

April 7, 2003

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After a stellar showing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Georgia Tech junior sprinter Amandi Rhett was named one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Women’s Track and Field Performers of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Rhett shares the weekly honor with North Carolina’s Laura Gerraughty.

Rhett, who won both the 100 and 200 meters at Tech’s first home meet of the season, recorded NCAA Regional qualifying marks in three events. The Willingboro, N.J., native ran 11.41 in the 100 meters and 23.60 in the 200 meters to secure a spot at the NCAA East Regional Championships. Rhett also anchored the 4×100-meter relay to a school record and regional qualifying mark of 44.70. Rhett owns the ACC’s best marks in both the 100 and 200 meters.

Tech has one more tune-up, this weekend’s Sea Ray Relays, before the 2003 ACC Outdoor Championships, April 18-19 in Raleigh, N.C.
