Tech's Fallon Stokes Garners ACC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Fallon Stokes was named the ACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 8, 2003, the conference office announced on Monday. It marks the second time this season that Stokes has earned honors, as she received the ACC co-Player of the Week award two weeks ago.

Tech’s Stokes led the Yellow Jackets to a 60-54 victory over Davidson in their first home game of the season, recording her second double-double of the year and fifth of her career. Stokes led all scorers with 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the contest. The senior forward scored 19 of the Jacket’s 36 second-half points to lead Tech to the win. Against cross-town rival Georgia State, the Atlanta, Ga., native tied a season-high with 25 points in just 36 minutes of play, including scoring the 1,000th point of her career. After scoring 15 points in the first half, she needed just two to become the 19th player in Georgia Tech history to reach 1,000 career points. Overall, Stokes shot 44% from the field and 67% from the charity stripe, scored 48 points and recorded 20 rebounds in two games.
