CLEMSON – Maxienne White led four Tigers in double-figures as Clemson (7-9, 1-1 ACC) earned a 72-63 win over Georgia Tech (11-3, 0-2 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson.

Clemson went on a 22-6 run to begin the game, and extended its lead to 23 points with just over 10 minutes remaining to earn its first conference win of the season.

After falling behind 58-35 with 10:31 left on the second-half clock, the Yellow Jackets went on a 25-11 run over the next nine-and-a-half minutes to pull within nine points on a layup by Stephanie Higgs with one minute remaining in the game, but could get no closer, as Clemson held Tech scoreless until Janie Mitchell hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining.

Tech held the Tigers scoreless from the field over an eight-minute span, beginning at 11:38 in the second half, but Clemson shot over 64 percent from the free-throw line while Tech converted on just 13-of-28 from the charity stripe in the second frame.

Stephanie Higgs rounded out the Jackets in double-figures with a 10-point performance.

The Jackets were stung by 21 turnovers, which translated to 24 points for the Tigers. Tech out-rebounded Clemson 47-34, including pulling down 25 offensive boards, but the Jackets could only convert 11 second-chance points on the night.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action Wednesday evening in Atlanta when they host the Duke Blue Devils at 7 p.m. at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
