Tech's Brewer Tops School Record at Sea Ray Relays

April 12, 2003

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Georgia Tech sophomore Ian Brewer surpassed his own school record in the invitational hammer throw late Friday to lead a group of three Yellow Jackets competing at the Sea Ray Relays at Tennessee’s Tom Black Track.

Brewer posted a mark of 203’2.00″ to place fifth in the event. His performance topped his previous best of 198’6.00″ at the Florida Relays. Brewer owns the Atlantic Coast Conference’s best toss this season and is already qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships in the hammer throw. He also placed eighth in the open discus with a mark of 155’0.00″.

Sophomores Zeb Sion and Jonathan Spillman both competed in the open shot put. Sion was fourth with a mark of 56’8.75″, while Spillman took 11th (51’10.00″).

The Jackets return to action next weekend at the 2003 ACC Outdoor Championships, set for April 18-19 in Raleigh, N.C.
