Tech Wraps Up Homestand with Western Carolina Tuesday at 1 p.m.

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s 14th-ranked baseball team will conclude its nine-game homestand this Tuesday when they host the Western Carolina Catamounts in a 1 p.m. game at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Please not the game time has been changed from previously published information, and was moved up to 1 p.m. due to the Yellow Jackets’ travel arrangements after the game to Orlando, as they face the Atlanta Braves in an exhibition game Wednesday at 1:05 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets (6-4) are coming off a weekend in which they swept Duquesne, outscoring the Dukes, 36-15, in a three-game series. Western Carolina (4-2) hosted Connecticut over the weekend, and went 2-1 against the Huskies in their first home series of 2007.

The Yellow Jacket offense is led by outfielders Wally Crancer (.536-4-12), Danny Payne (.417-1-8) and Curtis Dupart (.350-0-7), while four other Yellow Jackets are hitting over .300 for the season. Georgia Tech, as a team, is hitting .309 on the year.

Georgia Tech leads Western Carolina, 16-14

Georgia Tech leads Western Carolina, 16-14, in a series that dates to 1973. Twenty-nine of the 30 games have been played in Atlanta, with the only other matchup coming at Miami’s Mark Light Field in Coral Gables.

The Yellow Jackets and Catamounts have played at least one game in each of the last three years after meeting only once in the previous four seasons.

Tech has won five of the last seven games between the two teams, including a 19-5 win over Western Carolina last season.

The Yellow Jackets are 6-3 against the Catamounts under head coach Danny Hall, with all nine meetings coming at Russ Chandler Stadium.
