ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s track and field team received a preseason ranking of No. 19 by Trackwire Tuesday, Jan. 13, in the first poll of the season. The ranking is a prediction of where teams will finish at the NCAA Championships. Defending indoor and outdoor NCAA champions, Louisiana Sate University, sits firmly atop the rankings.
Other Atlantic Coast Conference schools that appeared in the rankings were No. 7 North Carolina, No. 16 Florida State and No. 24 Clemson. Future ACC foe Miami (Fla.) appeared in the poll at No. 19, along with Tech.
“It’s exciting to be 19th and have athletes that are predicted to score at the national level,” said head coach Alan Drosky. “There are some very talented individuals on our team that are poised to have an outstanding season.”
Georgia Tech will travel to Lexington, Ky., for the Indoor Kentucky Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 16-17.
