Tech Women's Basketball To Hold Food And Toy Drives

Nov. 9, 2012

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will be collecting toys and food at two upcoming home games.

Fans that bring a non-perishable food item to the Kennesaw State game on Tuesday, Nov. 13, or a new, unwrapped toy to the Marquette game on Sunday, Nov. 18, can purchase a $2 ticket.

The food drive will support the Atlanta Food Bank with the toys going to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter.

The toy drive will support the 12th annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive, held by the Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board. The Toy Drive was the brainchild of former Georgia Tech basketball player Michael Isenhour in an effort to help 9/11 families, and began in 2001 as Isenhour was battling leukemia. The Georgia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Board renamed it the Michael Isenhour Toy Drive to create an ongoing legacy to their fellow student-athlete, who lost his battle with cancer in 2002.

Fans are encouraged to follow Georgia Tech women’s basketball on Twitter, @GTWBB, and like the Yellow Jackets on Facebook, GTWomensBasketball, for an inside look at the program.
