“We learned a lot from the loss at Tulsa, especially a bunch of little things,” said Tech head coach MaChelle Joseph. “I think that that games really opened up a lot of areas that we needed to get better at, both offensively and defensively. I’m glad that we have gotten this opportunity to go on the road and face a team like St. John’s though. I would like to see what we learned from the Tulsa game, playing back-to-back undefeated teams. It just represents another challenge for our team and we are excited about it.”

The Jackets are led this season by sophomore Stephanie Higgs, who is averaging 12.8 points and 5.3 rebounds while dishing out 1.8 assists and recording 2.5 steals on the season. Kasha Terry has returned to last year’s form as a shot-blocking threat, averaging 3.0 blocks per game, while Jessica Williams again leads the squad with 7.7 rebounds per contest.

The Yellow Jackets and Red Storm have met just one time in history, with Tech earning an eight-point victory in Atlanta during the annual holiday tournament, which is held at Georgia Tech every New Year’s Eve. Friday’s game marks the 15th meeting between Georgia Tech and a Big East opponent, as the Jackets are 5-9 all-time against teams from the conference.

Following the contest, the Jackets will return to Atlanta to host Samford on Tuesday before taking off for the Christmas holiday.
