Tech Tops Panthers in Home Opener

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball (3-2) notched its third-straight win on Wednesday evening with an 8-3 victory over Georgia State (0-6) in the Yellow Jackets’ home opener.

Freshman Bailee Zeitler and sophomore Breanna Roper put the Jackets on the board first, scoring on an error by the Panthers.

Tech turns a double play to hold Georgia State scoreless in the top of the second.

Senior Katie Krzus drops an RBI single into left center to score junior Rebecca Prairie, knotting the score at 3-3.

Sophomore Cameron Stanford knocks a two-RBI double into left field, plating Krzus and junior Drew Puckett and putting Tech back in the lead, 5-3.

Up next: The Yellow Jackets host Illinois and Michigan State at Mewborn Field this weekend, Feb. 15-17, for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Tech matches up against each team twice over the three days of competition.
