Tech Tennis Players Earn Pro Points

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis competed across two continents in the past few weeks earning pro points along the way.

Andres Martin and Keshav Chopra each earned pro points with wins in pro tournaments. Martin made it to the finals of the M25 East Lansing tournament, earning himself 12 singles points.

Martin came out of the qualifying draw in the tournament and won his first 11 sets. He would come back from one set down in the semi-finals to take the match 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 7-5. Martin would face a familiar foe, Gabriel Diallo of Canada who plays collegiately at Kentucky, in the finals which would ultimately go Diallo’s way.

“I learned a lot from this tournament and feel very confident for my next ones. All the hard work that I have put in with my teammates at Tech is starting to pay off,” Martin said.

Chopra travelled to Spain this summer to train and gained an entry in the qualifying round of the M25 La Nucia tournament in doubles play. Chopra, along with partner Max Wuelfing, won the first match against Molino/Moratalla of Spain to earn one doubles pro point.

“It was really cool to play on red clay,” Chopra said of the experience. “I really haven’t played on red clay ever. It was a good experience to get the exposure to those top guys.
