CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Georgia Tech’s Ryan Bishop posted a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:49.64 in the 200-yard individual medley to lead the Yellow Jackets to a third-place standing (157.5 pts.) after day two of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Virginia’s Aquatic and Fitness Center tonight. Virginia leads the ACC meet with 314 points after the first day of competition.
The Tech 200 free relay team of Ryan Riebesell, Jason Howard, Brian Huff and Teemu Kettunen broke the school record with a time of 1:21.46 to finish fifth for the Jackets.
Matt Figh tallied a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 4:24.45 in the 500 freestyle to finish sixth, while teammate Sam Morgan finished eighth with a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 4:26.73.
Tony Burkhardt led the Tech divers with a seventh-place finish in the one-meter diving with a score of 266.85. Paul McCarty finished in ninth place for the Rambling Wreck with a score of 254.95 on the one-meter board.
Riebesell paced the Jackets in the 50 free with a time of 20.64, finishing seventh. Kettunen posted a time of 20.86 to finish 14th for Tech.
Competing in the ‘Bonus’ finals of the 50 free for the Yellow Jackets were Huff and Jeremy Raines. Huff tallied a 20th-place finish with a time of 21.06, while Raines finished 23rd with a time of 21.21.
In the 200 IM, Conrad Aach and Jacob Wilson finished 20th and 21st, with times of 1:54.94 and 1:56.23, respectively.
