ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team (37-11, 6-0 ACC) will be after its single-season win record Tuesday when it hosts Chattanooga (26-10, 9-1 Southern) for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Glenn Field.
With one win, the Jackets will equal their single-season victory mark of 38, which was set in 1991. A pair of wins will put Tech within one victory of its first-ever 40-win season.
The Jackets are 1-3 all-time against the Lady Mocs, including a pair of losses to Chattanooga a year ago.
Sophomore shortstop Tara Knudsen continues to lead the squad with a .393 average, 12 home runs and 40 runs batted in. Catcher Lindsay Wood ranks second on the team with five homers, while center fielder Sara Wissmann is second with 20 RBI.
On the mound, the duo of Jessica Sallinger and Erin Voeltz has combined for a 30-9 mark and 271 strikeouts in 274.1 innings.
Chattanooga is led by third baseman Melissa Ramirez, who sports a .409 average with four homers and 24 runs batted in. Jill Crawford and Jada Pescatore are also batting above .300.
Pitcher Beth Alexander is 16-4 with a 0.99 earned run average.
Following this match-up, Tech heads south for its final conference regular-season doubleheader, as the Jackets face Florida State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
