ATLANTA – Fresh off a pair of wins against Gardner-Webb, the Georgia Tech softball team hosts Furman for a doubleheader Wednesday at Glenn Field at 2 p.m.
Tech enters the game with a 2-0 overall record, while these games will be first of the season for the Paladins. Furman leads the all-time series with the Jackets, 17-8, but Tech took a pair from the Paladins last year, posting 3-1 and 2-1 wins on February 13.
Offensively, the Jackets were led in their first two games by sophomore Tara Knudsen, who hit a home run and drove in four runs, and senior Jamie Frost, who also homered and posted three runs batted in. Junior Felicia Coursey leads the team with four runs scored and two triples.
On the mound, Tech freshman Jessica Sallinger was brilliant in her collegiate debut, no-hitting Gardner-Webb and fanning 11 of the 15 batters she faced. Junior Tiffany Goodman picked up the other win for the Jackets, going four innings and allowing just three hits and one run. Sophomore Erin Voeltz went three hitless inning to pick up the save in that game.
Following the twin bill with Furman, Tech makes it first road trip of the young season, as it travels to Georgia Southern for a pair on Saturday, February 16.
