Tech Radio Voice Brandon Gaudin Moving On

June 8, 2016

THE FLATS – Brandon Gaudin, the “Voice of the Jackets” since 2013, will be leaving Georgia Tech after three seasons to undertake a trio of new broadcasting opportunities.

He has been named the new play-by-play voice of Madden NFL for EA SPORTS, beginning with the game’s “Madden NFL 17” edition that arrives in August of this year.

Gaudin is taking over for Jim Nantz, who had voiced the video game the last four seasons. The other play-by-play commentators prior to Nantz include Pat Summerall, Al Michaels and Gus Johnson. Gaudin will sit alongside Fox Sports NFL analyst Charles Davis, who replaces Phil Simms.

Also starting this fall, Gaudin will join the Big Ten Network as a play-by-play announcer for various football, basketball and baseball broadcasts.

In addition to those duties, Gaudin has been named the lead college football play-by-play announcer for Westwood One Sports and will also call occasional NFL games for the network. He will continue to serve as one of the voices for Westwood One’s coverage of men’s basketball, including conference championship week and the NCAA Tournament.

“When I uprooted from Indianapolis to move to Atlanta, I certainly didn’t know my stay at Georgia Tech would span just three seasons. I just remember being so excited that I couldn’t get there fast enough,” Gaudin said. “This is an absolutely wonderful job, and I am incredibly fortunate to have held it.”

Gaudin continued, “First and foremost, I want to thank Mike Bobinski, not only for the opportunity he provided me, but also for his sincere friendship and mentorship. He has been as good to me, professionally and personally, as I could have ever hoped for. And that sentiment really goes department-wide. I am grateful to so many in the athletics department and am fortunate to have made great friendships that will extend long beyond my tenure. I am also truly indebted to the greater Georgia Tech community at large. They treated an outsider from Indiana with the absolute best in southern hospitality from day one. Georgia Tech is a special, special place to call home, and I look forward to cheering on the Jackets from outside the booth in the fall of 2016 and beyond.”

“Lastly, I want to thank the great radio crew I had the privilege to work alongside. They have been absolutely tremendous co-workers and friends. Randy Waters, Sean Bedford, Miller Pope, Stephen Hartzell, Roddy Jones, Al Ciraldo Jr., and Tommy Barber: Thank YOU for everything.”

In his role at Tech, Gaudin was the radio play-by-play voice of Georgia Tech’s football and men’s basketball programs in addition to hosting the coaches’ television and radio shows for each sport. A search for his replacement will begin immediately.

“While we are certainly excited for Brandon to have such a great opportunity to grow his broadcasting career, we are equally sad to see him leave,” said Mike Bobinski, Tech’s director of athletics. “Brandon has become an important part of the Georgia Tech family, and was respected and admired by our fans and alumni as the voice of the Yellow Jackets. Beyond his ability in the broadcast booth, his skill as a host and emcee added significantly to the quality of events across our department. While I know our fans listening across the State of Georgia will miss hearing his voice this fall we wish Brandon great success in his new endeavors.”
