ATLANTA (Feb. 10) – Georgia Tech campus radio station WREK-FM (91.1), in association with International Sports Properties, Inc, Tech’s radio rights holder, is scheduled to broadcast 36 regular season games in 2000, beginning with the ninth-ranked Yellow Jackets’ home opener against Georgia State Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The student-run station, which broadcasts on a 40,000-watt signal, will be the sole carrier of Georgia Tech baseball this season, broadcasting Tech games for the 17th consecutive year.
Matt Wesolowski, WREK’s sports director, joins with Jerry Wible on the announcing team, which from time to time will also include Tech graduates and veteran Tech baseball voices Richard Musterer and Gray Saunders.
The broadcast schedule covers at least two games in every Atlantic Coast Conference series except North Carolina in early March, two of the three games at defending national champion Miami and three of the four games with Georgia.
WREK will follow the Jackets all the way through the post-season as well, broadcasting all Tech games in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and any NCAA Tournament games in which the Jackets participate.
Longtime Tech baseball radio voices Wes Durham and Randy Carroll also will be on hand to handle the broadcasts of nine games, including all three games at Florida State, both Miami broadcasts (May 6-7) and all three games of the final regular-season series at Wake Forest, as well as the middle game of Tech’s home series with Clemson (Apr. 29).
