Tech Performs Well at Raleigh & Florida State Relays

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field program finished its first day of competition at the Florida State and Raleigh Relays with top marks and finishes.

FLORIDA STATE RELAYS
Tech was led by two first-place performances from Cameron O’Neal and Jamir Gibson. O’Neal recorded a personal-best mark of 7.88 meters (25-10.25) to take home the win in the men’s long jump. Gibson threw a first-place mark of 17.92 meters (58-9.5) in the men’s shot put.

Shanty Papakosta earned second place in the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.74 meters (5-8.5).

In the 200m, Bradley Favors took home fourth for the men (21.79) and Sheleah Harris finished sixth for the women (24.25).

RALEIGH RELAYS
Zach Jaeger led the Jackets in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, finishing 16th with a time of 8:56.70. James Cragin was also a standout for the men in the 5,000 meters as he recorded a time of 14:19.00.

In the women’s 10,000 meters, Liz Galarza placed 16th in the invite with a new personal-best time of 33:48.01. In the other section, Katy Earwood was the top performer for Tech as she finished 37th with a time of 35:59.91.
