ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (16-4, 3-3 ACC) will look to rebound from its first home loss in over a year when it faces Clemson (9-12, 2-4) Thursday at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fans can catch all the action on WREK Radio (91.1 FM/www.wrek.org), Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s flagship station. The game will also be available to view on ACC Select.
“We look forward to our game against Clemson,” head coach MaChelle Joseph. “Our players got some much needed rest during our bye week but we are anxious to get back on our home court for another Atlantic Coast Conference match-up.”
The Yellow Jackets will meet the Tigers for the 58th time and the first of two meetings this season. Tech is riding a three-game win streak against Clemson, taking the last two meetings by a total of nine points.
After spending a week in the top 25, the Jackets dropped out after a tough loss to No. 10 Duke last Thursday at the AMC. The loss also ended Tech’s 18-game home win streak, which spanned over a year dating back to Jan. 4, 2007.
Tech is led by senior Janie Mitchell, who is averaging a team-high 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds. Senior Chioma Nnamaka has moved into eighth place in the ACC record books in three-point field goals made after knocking down three against Duke.
It’s “Take A Kid to the Game” night at Georgia Tech. The first 100 fans through Gate 1 will receive a free Georgia Tech women’s basketball replica jersey courtesy of Russell Athletic. Tickets are just $4 for adults and when you buy one adult ticket, you will get one for FREE.
The Jackets close out their three-game homestand against Florida State Sunday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m., and will be broadcast on FSN South in Atlanta.
