Tech Looks to Cool Red-Hot No. 11 Florida State

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis heads out on the road after a 15-day break to face ACC foe Florida State on Sunday, March 18.

The Yellow Jackets (5-7, 1-1 ACC) are coming off back-to-back wins over Miami and Georgia State in their last outing, getting impressive wins in both singles and doubles. Florida State is ranked 11th in the country and features a nine-match winning streak.

The Seminoles (18-1, 2-0 ACC) have three ranked singles players and four doubles teams. Guy Iradukunda leads the rankings at No. 16, while Lucas Poullain is No. 56 and Aziz Dougaz is No. 87. The duo of Guy Iradukunda and Alex Knaff leads the group of doubles pairs coming in at No. 17 in doubles. They are followed by at Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain at No. 19, Terrance and Terrell Whitehurst at No. 44 and Iradukunda and Dougaz at No. 74.

Georgia Tech features 13th-ranked doubles tandem Carlos Divar and Michael Kay, while Divar is still ranked No. 53 in singles action this year.

The men’s team overall has faced five nationally ranked opponents in its last eight games, getting a win last over then-No. 45 GSU by a score of 4-3.

First serve against Miami was originally scheduled for noon, but was moved to 11 a.m. with inclement weather forecasted for the afternoon.
