>> In the 356th all-time meeting between the rivals, Georgia Tech and Georgia square off Wednesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium in the rubber game of the season series.

>> The game is live on CSS with Matt Stewart and Randy Carroll calling the action. The broadcast can also be heard live on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta.

>> Georgia Tech has won six of its last eight games, eight of 11, and is now 10 games above .500 — its high watermark of the season. The Yellow Jackets improved to 19-5 in non-conference games, and 2-1 in extra-inning affairs, thanks to a three-game sweep of Charlotte this past weekend.

>> Tech and Georgia are playing a series rubber game for the first time since 2007. The Yellow Jackets have won the last three regular-season series with the Bulldogs, and Tech’s senior class is 7-3 in its 10 games against Georgia.

>> Sophomore reliever Alex Cruz enters the week leading the country in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (4.44), and the righty is tied for the ACC lead in overall ERA (1.42, seventh nationally) and leads in WHIP (0.79, third nationally). Cruz (6-1) has been credited with half of Tech’s last 12 wins.

>> Sophomore Daniel Palka is third in the ACC in homers (11), third in slugging percentage (.614) and fourth in total bases (108). Palka has recorded two walk-off hits this season, both in extra innings — a 13th-inning home run versus Clemson and an 11th-inning single vs. Charlotte.

>> This week, Jake Davies and Zane Evans were named to the watch list for the Two-Way Player of the Year Award, while Sam Dove and Brandon Thomas earned Academic All-District mention.
