THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving incoming freshman (Fang Yue) Darren Lim will represent his country of Singapore in the pool at the 2018 Asian Games from Aug. 19 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta-Palembang.
Recognized as one of the biggest multi-sport games after the Olympic Games, the Asian Games is the most prestigious event organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, with the 18th edition to be held in 2018.
Competing in the swimming portion of the games from Aug. 19-24, Lim will hit the water for Singapore as part of the 4×100 free relay team on Wednesday, Aug. 22, and will also swim in the 100 free on Thursday, Aug. 23.
Lim, who competed in the 50 meter free (23.67) and the 4×100 meter free relay at the 2014 Asian Games, most recently took part in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, racing in the 50 meter free (23.50), 100 meter free (50.79) and the 50 meter fly (24.86).
The rest of the 2018-19 Yellow Jackets will begin class on Monday, Aug. 20, and will begin practice later in the week in preparation for the start of the season with the annual White vs. Gold Intrasquad meet set for Sept. 28-29 at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
