ATLANTA – Sytia Messer, in just her second season on the Flats, has been named the recruiting coordinator for the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team. A former standout at the University of Arkansas, Messer joined the Yellow Jackets in the summer of 2004 after serving as an assistant coach at Arkansas State and Memphis.
“I’m really excited for Sytia to get the opportunity to head up our recruiting efforts for the class of 2006,” said Georgia Tech head coach MaChelle Joseph. “We made this decision because of her work ethic and her desire to help us sign one of the top-10 recruiting classes in the country. She has worked extremely hard, and I think that she deserves this opportunity at this time in her career.”
Messer will continue to assist in the development of Georgia Tech’s perimeter players while coordinating the offseason strength and conditioning program for the Yellow Jackets.
“It was just a natural decision to make her the recruiting coordinator,” Joseph added.
