THE FLATS — The Alexander-Tharpe Fund, Georgia Tech athletics’ fundraising arm, held its annual Scholarship Endowment Dinner on Monday, Feb. 12 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.

The Scholarship Endowment Dinner is held annually to show appreciation for the A-T Fund donors that support Georgia Tech student-athletes through the endowment of athletics scholarships, while also giving scholarship recipients the opportunity to personally express their gratitude for donors’ generous support.

This year’s event was highlighted by speeches from four current student-athletes — men’s track and field’s Avery Bartlett, football’s Brant Mitchell, men’s basketball’s Sylvester Ogbonda and women’s track and field’s Jeanine Williams. Ogbonda’s speech, in particular, drew rave reviews, as he shared the emotional story of his path from Nigeria to Georgia Tech, telling donors, “Thank you for helping create an individual that a family and future generations can look up to.”

Other speakers included Georgia Tech alums Karl Dasher (CEO, North America / Co-Head of Fixed Incomes for Schroeders), Danielle Donahew (former GT basketball student-athlete and executive director of Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) and director of athletics Todd Stansbury.

The A-T Fund is a division of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association and serves as the primary fundraising department to support student-athletes in the form of scholarships, program support and facilities improvements. For more on the A-T Fund and to become a member today, visit atfund.org.
