Stewart on Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior wide receiver Brad Stewart (Savannah, Ga./Benedictine Military School) is one of 106 student-athletes on the official watch list for the 2018 Wuerffel Trophy, the Wuerffel Trophy committee announced on Thursday. The Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service,” is presented annually to the NCAA Division I FBS student-athlete that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Stewart has been one of Georgia Tech’s most active student-athletes in the community. Among his service activities, he participated in GT athletics’ Jackets Without Borders service trip to Puerto Rico to help rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Maria in May and organized teammates to assist with a Habitat for Humanity house build in Atlanta in July.

On the field, Stewart has started 27-consecutive games for the Yellow Jackets at wide receiver and has averaged 19.1 yards per reception over the course of his career, including a 24.8-yard average as a junior last season.

Also a terrific student, Stewart is a two-time academic all-ACC honoree and was named first-team academic all-district in 2016.

Semifinalists for the 14th-annual Wuerffel Trophy will be announced on Nov. 1 and finalists will be unveiled on Nov. 19. The winner will be announced during the National Football Foundation awards press conference on Dec. 4 in New York and be presented at the All-Sports Association awards banquet on Feb. 15, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

2018 Georgia Tech football season tickets and three-game ACC Flex Packs are on sale now.
