Jackets Down Bodega Radio, 80-53, in Third Game of Costa Rica Trip

San Jose, Costa Rica – Led by freshman Janie Mitchell’s 15 points, the Georgia Tech women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on their trip to Costa Rica with an 80-53 victory over Bodega Radio Sunday evening at the National Gym in the capitol city of San Jose.

Mitchell, a Jackson, Miss. native went 7-for-8 from the floor and converted on 1-of-2 from the free throw line while pulling down six rebounds, dishing out two assists and recording a steal in 20 minutes of play.

Megan Harpring followed Mitchell in the scoring column, pouring in 11 points, including 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Her eight rebounds was second on the team, only one behind fellow junior Jessica Williams, who added 10 points and a steal for the Jackets. Kasha Terry also had 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting while recording seven rebounds and a steal.

The Yellow Jackets outscored Bodega Radio 44-18 from the lane and out-rebounded the Costa Rican team 65-39. Tech also blocked five shots in the contest, while recording 13 steals, led by Stephanie Higgs, Jill Ingram and Giuliett Ancora, with three apiece.

The Jackets will conclude their Costa Rican basketball experience Monday night when they face the Costa Rican National Team at 8 p.m.
