Due to the forecast for heavy rain and thunderstorms, softball’s new stadium celebration for Shirley Clements Mewborn Field has been moved to Sunday, March 29. Gates will open up at 11:30 a.m.
Georgia Tech Softball is set to host Florida State in a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and then a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Any changes to the game times will be posted at www.ramblinwreck.com immediately.
The first 200 fans through the gates on Sunday will receive a commemorative t-shirt and there will be free popcorn for all fans while supplies last. There will be games for the kids in the parking lot behind right field from the time the gates open at 11:30 a.m. until first pitch at 1 p.m. Throughout the game, there will be raffles, promotions and give-a-ways including softball bingo and a chance to sit in the best seat in the house.
Parking for softball will be available in the big AMC lot, along Fowler and 8th streets and in Peter’s Parking Deck.
Please note, the 3rd Annual ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon are scheduled Sunday, March 29, 2009, from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Temporary no parking zones and street closings will occur on campus throughout this time. (The no parking zones include: 5th Street from West Peachtree to the I-75/85 Interstate bridge; Techwood Drive from 5th Street to North Avenue; Tech Parkway from North Avenue to Means).
As the runners approach campus, their route will turn onto 5th Street off Juniper (passing through Technology Square); left on Techwood Drive; right on North Avenue, right on Tech Parkway, left on Means Street, and a final left on Marietta Street, proceeding to the finish line at Centennial Olympic Park.
