THE FLATS — The Georgia Tech softball team (15-21) travels to Lawrence, Kan. to take on Kansas (20-13) and North Texas (19-16) in a round robin — each team will play the other two teams twice. The Jackets have never played North Texas in softball, and Georgia Tech leads the all-time series against the Jayhawks, 3-2.
Samantha Pierannunzi takes a seven-game reached base streak into the weekend, in which she has totaled four runs, six hits, two doubles, a home run and five walks.
As the leadoff batter, getting on base is her main role, which is great for second-hole hitter Kelsey Chisholm who is second in the league in sacrifice bunts (9), showing her capability of advancing the runner. Not only can Chisholm laydown the sacrifice, but so can a number of Jackets as the team leads the conference in that category (32).
The Jackets are aggressive on the base paths with seven stolen bases in the last three games, while grabbing 67 bases in the last seven games.
