BLACKSBURG, Va. – Georgia Tech softball (15-10, 1-2 ACC) split Sunday’s doubleheader with Virginia Tech (18-4, 2-1 ACC), taking the first game 10-7 before dropping a heart breaker in the second 5-4.
Game 1: Georgia Tech 10, Virginia Tech 7
Senior Katie Krzus put the Jackets on the board early in the top of the first, bringing in sophomore Breanna Roper with a double down the left field line to put Georgia Tech up 1-0.
With the 1-0 lead in the top of the third, sophomore Tricia Awald sent a two-run bomb out of left center, scoring Krzus to bring the tally to 3-0.

With freshman Ariella Jackson pinch running for junior Drew Puckett on second and Roper on first, Krzus knocked her third double of the game into center field, plating Jackson to make it 5-2.

With the score knotted at 2-2 in the top of the fifth, Krzus hits a two-run home run, scoring Roper to put the Jackets back on top at 4-2.
