THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball signed five high school softball players to join the Yellow Jackets in 2015-16, head coach announced Wednesday. Of the five student-athletes to commit to Tech, two are from Georgia, one is from Florida, one is from Illinois and one is from California.
The recruiting class includes Jordan Deep (Loganville, Ga.), Kaylee Ellebracht (Los Alamitos, Calif.), Jenna Goodrich (Davie, Fla.), Katherine Krzus (Orland Park, Ill.) and Sydney Stavro (Buford, Ga.).
Jordan Deep | INF | R/R | Loganville, Ga./Buford HS
Deep is a four-year letterwinner as a second baseman for head coach Tony Wolfe at Buford High School and recently led the Wolves to their eighth consecutive state championship in Columbus, Ga. In her career, she hit 30 home runs, tallied 154 RBI, and knocked 173 hits.
Deep was first team all-region, all-area and all-county in class AAA in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She was first-team all-state in 2012 and 2013, and received honorable mention in 2011. Deep was recently named to the Georgia Dugout Club All-Star Game.
In addition to her success on the field, Deep was named to the honor roll all four years of high school. She lettered two years in cheerleading and one year in track where she placed 12th in the state in the discus.
“Jordan is one of the most talented pure hitters in the southeast,” Hoerner said. “She has consistently shown the ability to hit top-level pitching in both her high school and travel ball career. She is currently the record holder for homeruns at Buford High School, which is one of the most successful high school softball programs in the country. Jordan is a strong athlete that will certainly be a contributor here at Georgia Tech.”
Kaylee Ellebracht | Catcher | R/R | Los Alamitos, Calif./ Los Alamitos HS
Ellebracht is a four-year letterwinner and one-year captain as a catcher for head coach Rob Well at Los Alamitos High School. She was a member of the Sunset League Championship team in 2011.
Ellebracht hit three home runs in the Premier Girls Fastpitch Nationals. She has been a member of her school’s honor roll all four years.
“Kaylee is one of the best defensive catching prospects that we have seen over the past few recruiting cycles,” Hoerner said. “She is in complete command of whatever game she is catching. She controls the running game, keeps her pitchers focused and successful, as well as being the quarterback of the defense. Kaylee has such great upside and we can’t wait to have her on campus.”
Jenna Goodrich | Pitcher | R/R | Davie, Fla./ American Heritage HS
Goodrich lettered four seasons under Alex Acosta and Marty Cooper as a pitcher and infielder at American Heritage HS. She won a district championship at Archbishop McCarty, and with American Heritage reached the Final Four in 2013 and won a state title in 2014.
As a junior, she was the winning pitcher in the state championship game, first-team all-state and first-team all-county. As a sophomore, Goodrich was a Gatorade Player of the Year Nominee, the Sun-Sentinel Player of the Year and first-team all-county. In her freshman campaign, she was all-state honorable mention and first-team all-county.
“Jenna is an excellent pitching prospect,” Hoerner said. “She plays on one of the most successful travel programs in the country in the Gold Coast Hurricanes coached by Marty Cooper. Jenna does an excellent job changing speeds and keeping the ball in the lower portions of the strike zone. Because of this, Jenna does not get barreled up very often. Her skill set is tailor made for our ball park and I believe she will be very successful for us.”
Katie Krzus | INF/OF | R/R | Orland Park, Ill./ Carl Sandburg HS
Krzus lettered three seasons under James Fabianski as a first baseman and outfielder at Carl Sandburg High School. She led her team to a runner-up finish in the 4A IHSA State Championship.
She went 3-for-4 with a homerun in the Class 4A Seminfinal win. Krzus was named to the 2014 Southtown Star All-Area team and 2014 22nd Century Media second team. In 2013, she made the Sub-Times All-Star team and the Regional News All-Area team. Krzus was also a four-year member of the school’s honor roll.
“Katie is an athletic corner infielder that will bring a great presence to our team and our lineup,” Hoerner said. “She has a very simple yet powerful swing that will be very successful for her at this level. She will bring an outstanding blue collar work ethic that will be contagious to everyone around her. We couldn’t be more excited to add Katie to our roster.”
Sydney Stavro | OF/INF | L/R | Buford, Ga./Buford HS
Stavro is a three-year letterwinner as a center fielder, third baseman and second baseman for head coach Tony Wolfe at Buford High School. She teamed up with fellow signee Jordan Deep to lead the Wolves to their eighth consecutive state championship.
Stavro was named to the all-region squad in 2012 and 2013. She was also named to the 2014 Georgia Dugout Club All-Star Game. Stavro has been an honor roll member since 2011.
“Sydney is an extremely athletic, fast slapper that will be a definite asset to our team,” Hoerner said. “She has played a very competitive slate in both her high school and travel seasons that will have prepared her well for the competition of the ACC. Sydney has a very unique skill set that we are excited to add to the roster.”
