THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team hosts Kennesaw State Wednesday in its final home game of the 2014 season. The Yellow Jackets (22-20) and Owls (22-25) square off at 6 p.m.
Parking is available in the McCamish Lot, but will be limited. Fans are encouraged to park on Fowler and Sixth streets, as well as the O’Keefe Lot.
Series History
Wednesday marks the 20th meeting between the two teams and Georgia Tech leads 12-7. Earlier this season, the Owls used 12 hits and a big fourth inning en route to an 8-3 victory against the Jackets.
Georgia Tech (22-20)
The Georgia Tech softball team took one of three games from Pitt over the weekend and breaks from ACC action with a single game against Kennesaw State. The Yellow Jackets wrap up the regular season with a three-game series at No. 6 Florida State April 26-27.
The Jackets start six players currently batting above .300 led by Ashley Thomas’ .397 hitting clip and as a team Georgia Tech is batting 305. Thomas also leads the team in hits (52) and runs (42), averaging 1.00 runs per game.
Alysha Rudnik leads the squad with 11 doubles, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 25 walks, while senior Hayley Downs tops with 15 sacrifice bunts and owns 20 of Tech’s 62 total stolen bases.
NCAA Top 50
Georgia Tech is ranked in the top 50 in four NCAA statistical categories. The Jackets are No. 40 in stolen bases per game (1.48), No. 41 in triples per game (0.24), No. 42 in double plays per game (0.38) and No. 48 in batting average (.305).
