Softball Hosts 2021 Alumni Game

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball will open its 2021 fall schedule by hosting an alumni game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mewborn Field.

Fans of all ages are invited to attend the game with admission being free to the public. Parking will be available in the McCamish lot in conjunction with Georgia Tech volleyball’s match also at 1 p.m.

Along with coach Aileen Morales, notable Yellow Jacket alumni returning to The Flats include two-time First Team All-ACC third baseman Alysha (Rudnik) Stanton, former First Team All-ACC third baseman Katie Krzus, two-time Second Team All-ACC center fielder Christy (Jones) Blair, former Second Team All-ACC right fielder Jessica Sinclair and former Second Team All-ACC designated player Courtney Ziese.

Four-year letterwinners coming to Mewborn Field Sunday include Erin Wrigley, Drew Puckett, Caroline Hilton and Samantha Pierannnunzi along with three-year letterwinner Isabella Many, Lori Burke and Megan Vonderhaar.

Georgia Tech enters its fifth season under Morales, bringing back 15 returners from last season’s squad. Among the notable returners are Justin’s World of Softball Third Team All-American, NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-ACC first baseman Tricia Awald along with First Team All-ACC and All-ACC Freshman Team catcher Emma Kauf. The decorated duo is joined by ace right-hander Blake Neleman as well as regular starting middle infielders Bailee Zeitler and Jin Sileo.

Fans will also have the opportunity for a first look at the Yellow Jackets’ No. 17 ranked recruiting class, tabbed second amongst the ACC and composed of eight highly touted new Jackets.

Georgia Tech will next head to SEC country to battle South Carolina in a doubleheader on Oct. 9 beginning at 1 p.m. in Columbia, S.C. The Jackets will return home for the remainder of their fall slate, hosting North Georgia on Oct. 17 at noon before wrapping up competition hosting Emory on Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m.
