ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech Softball Team (4-5) travels down to Tampa, Fla., this weekend for the Louisville Slugger Tournament hosted by the University of South Florida. The Yellow Jackets will play South Carolina (9:30 AM) and Hofstra (11:30 AM) on Friday, Wisconsin (4:00 PM) and Wright State (8:00 PM) Saturday and South Florida at 2:00 PM on Sunday.

Live stats for every Tech game will be available via the Gametracker link at www.ramblinwreck.com. There will also be live streaming video of every game from the tournament courtesy of South Florida. Fans can purchase a one-month subscription for $9.95. For more information or two order, you can visit www.gousfbulls.com.

“I saw tremendous growth in our team this past weekend at Alabama,” head coach Sharon Perkins said. “As a coach, you want to see the team continue to progress on a weekly basis. We need to continue to build on the positives that we ended last weekend on and carry it over to this weekend’s competition.”

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 2-2 performance at the Hampton Inn Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Behind a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts by junior Tiffany Johnson against New Mexico in the semifinals, the Jackets advanced to the championship game against now-No. 1 Alabama, but heavy rain and a tornado warning forced the cancellation of the game.

Senior Aileen Morales and junior Blair Shimandle lead the Jackets this season with a .321 batting average. Shimandle is a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts, while Morales is just two away from breaking Laura Williams’ school record of 110. Freshman Jessica Weaver leads the team with three home runs and is tied with senior Savannah Brown for the team lead in RBI (5).
