Feb. 7, 2005

ATLANTA – Softball slugger Christine Sheridan and tennis newcomer Sukhwa Young were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, February 7, 2005.

Sheridan, a junior from Pacadena, Md., led No. 21 Georgia Tech to a sweep over Chattanooga. She went 4-for-6 on the day with two home runs and a double, driving in four runs. Her two home runs in the second game was the 12th time in school history someone registered a multi-homer game. The junior transfer is currently batting .667 with a 1.833 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Young, a freshman from Wesley Chapel, Fla., won four matches for the Yellow Jackets on Sunday, helping the men’s tennis team to wins over Wofford and Georgia Southern. In the first match, he paired with Zachary Rath at No. 1 doubles to win, 9-8 (11) and then won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 7-6 (9). Later in the afternoon, he won at No. 3 doubles with Jordan Delass and followed that with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles. Since joining the team in January, Young is a perfect 6-0 in singles matches.
