THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior right guard Shaquille Mason has been named ACC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office. Mason shares the weekly honor with Virginia’s Ross Burbank.
Mason anchored Georgia Tech’s offensive line that helped the Jackets rack up 318 rushing yards – their third 300-yard rushing game this season – en route to a 28-17 win over Miami. Mason made his team-leading 30th consecutive start at right guard. Against the Hurricanes, the Jackets produced their third 100-yard rusher in five games.
Mason and Tech’s line limited Miami to one sack and has limited opponents to just four sacks in five games this season.
The Columbia, Tenn., native earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2013 and was twice named the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week a season ago (Sept. 16, Sept. 23).
